Dr. Kenneth Schmitz, professor of philosophy at John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family in Washington, D.C., is the 2004 Aquinas Distinguished Lecturer. He speaks on “Paths of Being: Compass of Discourse”. “We find ourselves within a textured world,” said Schmitz. “At its deepest and widest, it surrounds us and immerses us in a context interwoven by the threads of being. The threads are transcendental characteristics of being: meaning, values and relatedness, known by their ancient names as truth, goodness and otherness.
